Randsco "Shout Outs"
Many folks have helped Randsco.com. Some donate money, some use our Photo-caption Zoom, popINFO and other scripts in a creative way, some hire Scott for CSS or XHTML coding or site design, some back-link to Randsco and still others help with website development and/or content.
This growing list of websites showcases and says "thanks" to some of those people.
FEATURED DONOR: Green Man T-Shirts is a super environmentally-friendly clothing company based in California. Their mission is to sell organic t-shirts and save the World. The second is a doozy, but with 25% of their profits donated to environmental causes and groups, they're off to a good start. Green Man T-Shirts uses Photo-Caption Zoom
Green Man T-Shirts is an environmentally-friendly purveyor of - you guessed it - tee shirts. (The name says it all, eh?)
And apparently more, because the "Green Man" is a legendary pagan deity that roams the woodlands of England and Europe. He is usually depicted as horned and peers out of a mask of leaves. He archetypically promotes "being one with the Earth".
Dave Urban & Rob Juszak, co-owners of Green Man T-Shirts, sell only 100% organic cotton and bamboo t-shirts made by the most ethical and environmentally conscious companies in the apparel world. In addition they also give 25% of their profits to support environmental causes and organizations.
FEATURED DONOR: Ellis Design Associates is a small, independent civil and structural engineering consulting company, based on the south coast of England. Most of their work is in the U.K., but they've also had projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Middle East and North America. Their new website was deployed on Jan 12, 2009 and uses Photo-Caption Zoom.
The Ellis Design Associates website was recently revamped by Nick Bowles, of Webcraft U.K., Ltd.
"[They] already had a lot of content on their website, but it was difficult to navigate and not very search engine friendly. We are confident that having a new, modern-looking online portfolio, showing their wide range of expertise and experience will pay dividends for the company in the coming months and years," Nick said, when the new site was launched, on January 12th, 2009.
Nick employed Photo-caption Zoom on several of the engineering design portfolio pages, maximizing page real-estate, adding relevant and search-engine friendly caption text and allowing web visitors to see project photos in greater detail, without having to leave the the portfolio page.
FEATURED DONOR: The "Red Dirt Emporium", located in the historic "Bricktown District" of Oklahoma City, made a donation toward - and is using - Photo-caption Zoom Version 3. The Red Dirt Emporium was founded in 2007 and has a goal of introducing visitors and locals to the best that Oklahoma has to offer. They specialize in Oklahoma resources, art, music and other items that celebrate Oklahoma
Since they are largely responsible for the "Thank You" section of our sidebar and this "Shout Outs" blog, it's fitting that one of the first shouts should go to Oklahoma's Red Dirt Emporium.
What's the story?
Not only was their contribution unsolicited, but they didn't require any support to get it deployed.
One day, a donation email arrived and I thought, "Wow. Cool. I really should find a way to say 'Thank You' to them (and others who've helped Randsco) ... I know I've been meaning to ... I just need to DO IT!"
So, I made this section and (slowly) have begun populating it with some of the many people and companies that have - in some way - supported or helped Randsco. It's provides a formal way of saying "Thanks" and helps to promote their website (in a Search-Engine-friendly kind of way).
